To the staff, I take my ever-present hat off. I've always believed a company's attitude toward its clientele stems from the top. Academya Lingue is a perfect example; everyone was welcoming and supportive and those I talked to, like Roberto, showed that they had a lot to offer besides Italian language lessons. "The experience in Academya Lingue of Italian language was intensive and helped me to understand difficult grammar uses and "real life" spoken Italian. I liked the classes, because the amount of people in class was small, which gave me a more intensive and informative education. Also, having people from different ages and people from around the world in one class helps to look at the language from different points of view and generate different questions for better understanding. The teachers are highly qualified and have enormous teaching experience. They ensure that each student is involved into the study process and clarify all the questions, which appear during the lesson. The activities used in class are composed of various tasks to complete, which are both fun and challenging and cover four main parts of language studies (listening, reading, speaking and writing). Moreover, they are very helpful and kind. They always ready to find and explain additional materials if a student needs. In addition, the school has a very good location in Bologna city center near the main sightseeing attractions. "As you well know, learning a language requires so much risk and vulnerability, and I think I was able to be kinder to myself this year as I learned (I was quite impatient with myself in March). I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on why there is so much "vergogna" involved in language learning (for adults). Part of it is that basic human need to be understood and heard, and when you can't communicate well, you can't meet those essential human needs. Also, as an adult, you're used to mastery—of at least a few skills!!! But this brings me to what is so special about your teachers—each and every one of them. I just finished a book about "growth mindsets" in teaching—a fascinating social science study about human learning—and your school embodies this growth mindset!! "This is more than a language school; it's a place you can call home in a foreign land. The director, Andrea, and his team of effortlessly patient teachers welcome you with open arms and make you feel part of the family from the first day.

I'm in Italy for the summer and really wanted to start learning the beautiful, but also intricately complex, language. I was unfortunately only able to spend two weeks there, but I went from being able to only say what my name was to expressing what I did at the weekend, using past participles, conjugating verbs correctly and knowing how to show if it was me, me and the girls or a mixture of boys and girls. See? Told you the Italian language was barmy! It was just the start and they have ignited a passion to keep on studying this new language.

Not only do you learn without pressure or fear in the classroom, you meet fantastic people from all over and the social element is wonderful, fostered by the laid-back nature of Andrea and his team. We have natters over a coffee and a pastry every morning and the extra-curricular activities in the afternoon are smashing. In my short time there, I visited Parma and Modena, which they don't charge you for. You only pay for your transport, but the teachers' time and guiding comes at no cost to you. Nice one, Roberto! You were legendary. We also experienced the culture of Bologna with a classical music concert, which Andrea kindly took us to. I also have to say a particular thank you to Dora and Alice; my teachers in those two weeks. They were just incredible and so kind, always smiling, encouraging you to be better and rewarding you tenfold when you achieved. Learning as an adult is so different to when you were at school, yet it feels like you revert to childhood when you start a new language. These teachers dealt with our endless requests and curiosities with real grace and stamina, so thank you both so much. If you're looking for a language school in Bologna, go here. If you want a different kind of holiday where you go home with new skills and confidence, go here. If you want to eat a shed load of Bolognese cuisine and drink your body-weight in Prosecco/spritz, they'll show you where (and often join you too). It's a beautiful experience in a stunning building. "Estos seis meses para mí fueron realmente maravillosos. Llegar a vivir a otro país no es fácil pero gracias a ustedes conocí y disfrute de mi permanencia en Bolonia y aprendí no solo algo de la lengua sino de la hermosa cultura italiana.

Desde el primer momento me sorprendió la amabilidad de Andrea. Sin conocerme, siempre trató de ayudarme y sin duda, lo hizo hasta el último día. Por eso, soy infinitamente agradecida de él y su escuela.

Me acuerdo cuando llegué ese primer lunes y mi primera clase fue con Alice. Todo se volvió más familiar y amigable al escuchar su español- chileno y verla siempre con una sonrisa dispuesta ayudar. Partir aprendiendo a decir buongiorno, grazie, los números y las letras y luego tenerla nuevamente de profesora casi cuatro meses después y poder notar los avances, tratando de mantener una conversación es lo bello de aprender una lengua nueva. Y siempre apoyada en la segunda clase por Dora, quien siempre preocupada de la pronunciación y los juegos, logra que uno jamás vuelva a decir salsa “a la boloñesa” (risas).

Llegar todos los días y ver a Flavia, con esa personalidad tan característica, divertida, siempre estilosa y aprendiendo de ella, la cercanía y el humor de los italianos. O las clases de Martina, siempre innovando con sus canciones o los videos, siempre interesada en saber de las culturas y países de cada estudiante y enseñando la idiosincrasia de la bellísima Italia. Una gran profesora.

Donatella fue realmente gentil. Preocupada por los estudiantes siempre y muy dispuesta ayudar, sobre todo para los que hispanohablante, desde el primer momento, está atenta para hacer de nuestra estancia un buen recuerdo.

Y por supuesto, cómo no agradecer las clases de Roberto. Con esa ironía y amabilidad al mismo tiempo que lo caracterizan. Siempre trata de ayudar a todos los estudiantes. Sus clases realmente combinaban la historia y cultura italiana con la lengua a la perfección. Es volver a tener una clase magistral en la universidad pero aprendiendo un idioma. Realmente un excelente profesor y por sobre todo una buena persona.

Agradecer a todos y a todas las gran ayuda, las clases a diario, el entusiamo y la paciencia. Les deseo lo mejor a cada uno de ustedes y espero que todo vaya bien en Escuela Academya Lingue.

"So much more than just a language school! I spent two wonderful weeks at the Academya Lingue in Bologna where my love for the italian language and for the culture deepened significantly. From the first email exchange with Andrea until the end of the course, I knew I was in the best, most capable hands of a group of wonderful of teachers. I started learning Italian out of passion late in life, which - if I want to be honest - not easy. Learning a foreign language can be challenging, frustrating and intimidating for some, but the endless patience and the kindness the teachers have for each and every one of their students was very encouraging and turned everything into stress-free fun. They infused their lessons with a sense of excitement as we discovered new layers of the 'bella lingua' while filling us with confidence that we were valued as human beings as well. "A wonderful school to learn Italian in a warm and very familiar atmosphere! – Andrea and his team are really exceptional in terms of their personalities but also as regards the professional teaching level. I learned a lot in only one week thanks to my great and amiable two teachers: one for the first half and one for the rest of the lessons per day which also turned out to be a very good concept. They focused on the grammar topics I asked to deepen and gave me very helpul hints, explaining it to me/us in a clear and structured way – and always with fun! I also enjoyed very much the exchange with my small class and the teachers and thus improved my verbal skills practically without even noticing it. Besides, the school is located in one of the most beautiful places of Bologna in the middle of the town in a beautiful house. I enjoyed my trip to Bologna very much as the lessons at school in the morning were perfect, Bologna is wonderful, Milan and Venice are easy to reach by train as well as Parma, Modena, Ferrara, Ravenna, Rimini.... which I benefited from in the afternoons and the weekend. I have already been three times at Bologna for holidays as I really enjoy the Italian way of life without mass of tourists (although I am one of them as well :-) in a town with a lot of cultural highlight and - for me even more important – culinary & shopping attractions and a lot of other beautiful spots around. Nevertheless, my highlight this time was the ACADEMYA LINGUE at Bologna and I will return for sure!"

"I attended a 2 weeks course at the Academya Lingue just to pick up where I left off in terms of Italian skills and speed up a bit. Though I had a great feeling from the moment I first interacted with Andrea by email that I was heading to the right school, I never expected that it was just going to be more than a language school. It is truly an experience...an Italian experience! I cannot say enough good things about Bologna as the perfect setting to learn Italian and experience Italy at its very best. Leave Rome, Firenze, etc, for tourist trips. Bologna is THE city to experience the language, Italian culture and the FOOD (!!!). But what helped me connect to the city and feel part of it were the teachers at the school. Professionally qualified by many, many years of experience with a passion to teach that comes across right at the beginning. Andrea and all the teaching staff make you feel part of the family, Bologna and Italy. You often go out for Pizza, coffee, etc with the students and teachers. For example, we spent a long beautiful evening at a typical Bolognese restaurant. I also was lucky that I lived with a beautiful Italian family to which the school connected me. I even learned how to make fresh pasta with the family! Try to stay with a family if possible because it makes your experience even more Italian. The worst part of it was leaving the school, Bologna and my host family :( I wish I could have stayed a lot longer but I hope I will come back again! "

" I am just back from three wonderful weeks at Academya Lingue in Bologna la Bella. When, after thorough investigations, I told a friend of mine: “I’ve found my school. I’m sure it’s the best. Mi piace moltissimo”, she replied sceptically: “Yes, they’re all great on paper. I know, I host foreign students learning French in Montpellier” (where we both live). I was rather let down by her lack of encouragement but did not admit defeat. I knew I had made the right choice and “Avevo ragione!” I was absolutely right. I arrived early on the first day and before entering the elegant Palazzo where the school is located I marvelled at the sight of beautiful Piazza Santo Stefano. When hardly anybody is around it is almost magical. That alone justified my choice. Then I was enthusiastically greeted by Andrea and the other teachers. Everything about the school is beautiful. The Palazzo, Andrea’s plants on the landing, the classrooms with the lovely bright bottles of water and their partners, colourful glasses that put you right away in a good mood, but most of all the teachers. They are all very qualified, efficient, wonderful, cheerful people. Getting up early every day to go to school has never been so easy. I knew I would be warmly greeted, get all the attention I needed, and be given answers to my innumerable questions. On that account I would particularly like to thank Roberto who showed infinite patience. I appreciated changing teachers. You experiment different teaching approaches and get to know everyone. Spending the break period together at a bar next door is also an excellent idea. Not only can you speak with the teachers but you also get to know the students in the other classes. I met lovely, interesting people from all over the world. Under the expert guidance of Roberto we were also able to share meals and afternoons trips to surrounding cities, during which of course we all spoke Italian and made further acquaintance. However, this review wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t dedicate a paragraph to Andrea, the charismatic director of the school. You don’t often meet people like Andrea. He is a solar, generous person who inconspicuously pays great attention to all of his students. His school is not big and that’s the way he wants it. You feel like a member of a big family. Andrea is always bursting with ideas and optimism. It is fun listening to him and his good mood is contagious. I strongly recommend this school and can only hope to return soon. Grazie mille Andrea, Donatella, Elisa, Guisi, Rossella e Roberto! Spero di tornare fra poco."

"I loved every minute of my week at Academya Lingue and didn't want to leave. Andrea, the director, makes everyone so welcome and you feel instantly at home. They seemed to know exactly the right blend of learning something new and practicing what we already learned. There is a practical focus on the parts of Italian that are most helpful in everyday interactions. I was surprised how quickly I could have very basic conversations. On the contrary, they went out of their way to share that they had the very same struggles and had tons of sympathy. The other students at the school were also great people and it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with everyone outside the classroom. "Academya Lingue was one of the highlights of this MBA academic year. In many ways learning Italian is a much harder subject than many courses in grad school, the grammar etc. is extremely hard and on top of that we often had a project due the next day. Regardless of all this, Andrea was able to create a feeling of camaraderie and excitement over the subject, teaching the course in a way that made me excited to come to class even though I had 8 hours of classes prior that same day. He is also a treasure of knowledge on Italy, Bologna, Food, Culture and most importantly tips on how to live, get an internship and work in this country. With all this, we left each lesson learning more Italian, envigored to go out and speak it with the locals. Additionally, I was able to take classes with Claudia. She is extremely nice and felt she was likewise a fantastic teacher. I do not think there are many instances where an American, a Chinese, an Ethiopian and a Ugandan could all end up singing “Lasciatemi Cantare”. An emotional experience for me, and at the end of the day, the experience I was hoping to gain from living in Italy and more. I highly recommend my experience with Academya Lingue."

"Ciao Andrea, era peccato che io non abbia avuto la possibilità di ringraziarti ”in persona personalmente” per un corso molto utile e piacevole. Ho trovato le spiegazioni su le congiuntivo, i pronomi e le preposizioni molto chiari ed allora penso di avere capito quando si usa il congiuntivo o meno. Il tuo strutturazione per il congiuntivo mi ha dato una senso d’illuminazione. Quindi sono molto contento che il corso ebbe avuto un ambizione di imparare la grammatica. Anche le conversazioni in classe e durante la pausa erano molto utile per me. Per il prossimi otto mesi ho tanti progetti che sicuramente riempirà il mio tempo, ma ho fatto un promesso di regolarmente fare esercizi in grammatica e dialogare con me stesso in italiano. Je l’ai trouvé par hasard en me promenant dans Bologne. L’école est dans un immeuble historique avec ses escaliers en marbres ses sculptures majestueuses. Ils ont tous Andrea, Roberto et Donatella cette passion de vouloir enseigner cette langue merveilleuse qui est l’italien: Andrea toujours avec humour et amour, Roberto tres à l’ écoute, sérieux, vous reprends toujours quand vous faites des erreurs Il ne lâche rien et sait vous féliciter quand vous y parvenez. Donatella la douce, tres a l’écoute des élèves, elle vous amène toujours sur des sujets qui vous passionnent afin de combiner cours et discussions. Le temps passe vite avec elle. C’est un soleil les pauses cafés journalières sont attendues avec grande hâte pour échanger avec les autres élèves Au delà des cours tu passes du temps avec certains élèves et Roberto qui se propose pour faire visiter des endroits tél que Ferrara ........ Comme beaucoup l’on dit, tu gagnes une famille italienne en y participant.
